Welcoming Autumn with Sola Flowers and Westwood Falls + Giveaway

EDIT: This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Kathy Pease!

Fall is finally here! It’s time for cooler days, sweater weather, and getting ready for the holiday season. One of the best parts of this time of year is all of the decorating we get to do! That’s why I am super excited to introduce you to my dear friend Sonya Morris and her wood flower business, Westwood Falls. (Be sure to read through to the end of the post, where you can enter to win one of Sonya’s beautiful creations along with a gift card!).

Sonya has been designing arrangements and wedding items since March of 2018. She uses sola wood flowers to create unique works of art that are perfect for home decor, weddings, birthdays, graduations, bridal and baby showers, and just about any special occasion you can think of. Sola flowers can be dipped in paint, hand painted, airbrushed, spray painted, or kept in their original ivory/beige color, making them a versatile medium for your special day. They can be scented with perfumes or essential oils as well, to liven up the room even more!

To be honest, before Sonya introduced me to Westwood Falls, I had never heard of sola wood flowers. Sonya explained to me that the flowers are handmade from shavings of a tapioca tree type plant or balsa tree bark. Because of this, no two sola flowers will ever be the same. And while Sonya does not make the individual flowers herself, she does transform them into beautiful creations, like this one:

Sonya was kind enough to gift me her best-selling heart board, and the moment I took it out of the box I was taken aback. I mean it was absolutely gorgeous. The detail and uniqueness of the sola flowers against the wooden backdrop really took my breath away. Immediately I started thinking about what other sola flower arrangements I’d like to have around the house. Sonya says she loves the idea of one of a kind, customizable flowers that never die, and after seeing this beautiful heart board I have to agree!

Right now, Sonya is selling locally in two North Carolina stores but will gladly make custom orders and ship them to anyone interested in a Westwood Falls creation of their own. She’s also working on setting up her Etsy shop; be sure to follow her there so you can stay up to date on all the news. In the meantime, you can contact Sonya on Facebook and Instagram to see more of her art and put in an order for your next event or home decor project.

Now, for the giveaway!

Sonya was generous enough to give one lucky winner a beautiful heart board of their own! This is one of her best-selling items and retails for $85. The winner will also receive a $25 Amazon gift card, for a total $110 value. Enter on the Rafflecopter below.

  1. My favorite is the last one pictured in this post, the one in a long planter type box and has what looks like yellow, pink peach, and red roses with some other flowers on top of the roses. I had never heard of these before your article. I like that they’re not plastic.

  2. I really like the very last one. As a person who cannot keep plants alive, I think these would be so cool to have around the house.

  3. My fave arrangement in this post is the second one down. The long centerpiece type arrangement in a wood box. Now, on her instagram I’m completely and utterly obsessed with her metal hoop wreaths. Gorgeous simplicity!!

  4. How very beautiful and yes I did sign in for the giveaway. The one that I really like is the very last one, but alas I cannot figure out the name of it. They are all so beautiful, but the last one draws me to it. It would look beautiful in my kitchen window… hmmmm or maybe my room. I have my own private room in which I sew and crochet plus it’s my walk-in closet or I just go in there to meditate. hmmm yes, that would be a good room for me to admire such elegant work. Woo Hoo!

  5. Seriously they are all beautiful and I’m sure I could find a spot for any of them but I really love the last arrangement. I love the colors and I love how long it is. I have the perfect spot for it. Beautiful

  6. I am getting married in December and have been looking at a wood bouquet. I wish she had a website to look at her creations. But I definitely love the last set of wood flowers so pretty

    1. Congratulations on your wedding! No website yet, but Sonya does post regularly on her social media pages and I’m sure she’d love to create a beautiful piece for you!

    2. Hi Val! Congratulations! Unfortunately, I do not have a website but that will hopefully be happening soon. 8. I really really REALLY love that big ole heart at the top of your post. I can see this in my home or even my mother’s home. Thanks for sharing this, I just love finding new creative artists and filling my home with awesome finds like these.

  9. The heart flower board is my absolute favorite but I also love the last display featured. The rose and pinks mixed with the cream is just lovely.

  10. My favorite is the one in the first photo with the black & white checkered bow. But they are all beautiful and I would enjoy any of them!

  11. I love the heart shaped one. It would make the perfect present for my parents who are going to be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
